Even today there are many evidences that people have lived
in this places during the middle age in conditions of good geographical
position, fertile ground, forests full of vensions and wild fruit.
There are many types
of tomb-stones in villages Komari and Cemernica, just like in other places
of this region. Near village Praca there are remains of ancient town
Pavlovac, which had been commanded by unordinary ruler called Jerinja.
There is a legend which says that this ruler had divided a river Praca by
partitions of wool, so she could enjoy in the ride by vessel. It also says
that she had got milk from village houses on hills in wooden trough which
where connected with her fort. It all looked like aqueduct. The most
unusual legend connects her with her passion of killing chosen young
lovers. After one night spends with them, she would throw their bodies
from thick-wall into a canyon of river Praca.
During the Turkish
time, Praca had a certain place among centers of trade. It is situated on
the road which connected Dubrovnik with Near East. Praca was the place
full of hostelry and night-quarters where caravans used to came for a
rest, or to renew the supplies, so they could continue the trip. |
